July Stewart Insider
FOURTH OF JULY - WHERE TO GO TO SEE FIREWORKS
The show starts on July 4th at 9:20pm and is organized by Macy’s and lasts about 25 minutes. There are over a dozen places you can view the fireworks. You can not see them at Macy’s you have to travel to the waterfront areas.
The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks are set off along the Brooklyn Bridge and from barges along Pier 17 in the Seaport District. Macy's suggests viewing this year's spectacle from the following areas in lower Manhattan: Broad Street and Water Street, Pearl Street and Dover Street, Robert F. Wagner Sr. Place and St. James Place, Pearl Street and St. James Place, Montgomery Street and Cherry Street, Pike Slip and Cherry Street and Market Street and Cherry Street.
If you do go down to the South Street Seaport this is a great place to check out the restaurant, museum and shop scene throughout the day and then wait to see the fireworks.
Dumbo, Brooklyn is another place that will offer a great place to check out the fireworks and a great way to check out the Time Out Food Market or some of the other restaurants in this area.
Beyond the Macy’s fireworks – Coney Island offers their own fireworks they are not as extensive as Macy’s but quite beautiful. Coney Island's fireworks are at the Riegelmann Boardwalk along the Coney Island Boardwalk. These fireworks typically begin at 9:30pm. They also will have live music at the Coney Island Brewery that day starting at 2pm at 1904 Surf Avenue, Coney Island.
